Sterling Pacific Lending, Inc dba Sterling Pacific Financial, a leading trust deed investment firm based in Santa Cruz County, has recently become recertified as a ‘green business’ by the Monterey Bay Green Business Program. In order to receive this recognition, Sterling Pacific Financial has met more than 60 different criteria in relation to pollution prevention, waste reduction, energy conservation, and employee education. This distinction comes five years subsequent to an initial certification on November 11th, 2008.

The criteria that Sterling Pacific met for this certification included using less toxic janitorial cleaning devices, purchasing more recycled products for office use as well as accessories, scheduling regular maintenance to heating systems to increase efficiency, as well as irrigation upkeep.

“At Sterling Pacific Financial we were all excited to know that many of our operations met the Monterey Bay Green Business Program’s standard for operating as a green business. What we were even more enthusiastic about were the changes that we could enact in order to become all the more environmentally friendly,” said K.C. Jackson. “It is knowledge that not only can be used in the office space, but it is something that can be taken home and used in our own personal efforts to improve the environment.”

Other methods that were initiated by Sterling Pacific to help benefit both employees and the environment include purchasing products that minimize packaging, using energy star rated appliances/office equipment, and using rechargeable batteries. Outside of different actions that have been enacted in order to meet the criteria of a green business, Sterling Pacific has also received insights on how to further inform their employees on how to stay green. Different initiatives include the hosting of zero waste events, training events, and company newsletters with current environmental issues.

“Achieving our ‘Green Certification’ benefits each of us individually as well as our team collectively,” said Luke Johnson. “The effects of minimizing our environmental impact can be felt now and for generations to come.”
